Far enough away from the tourist spots(but close enough to visit) lies this hidden gem. You don't know what to expect when you've just seen pictures. In this case the lovely photos do no justice to the beauty of the Melvin Country House. The meticulously kept rooms are spacious,comfortable and modern with personal touches that give it a familiar warmth. Wherever the eye may wander throughout the house are little treasures that reflect the care taken to make you feel at home. But above all else are the hosts that make the place so special. Frances and her family are delightful.They give all the attention you want and the space you need. It is obvious that Frances loves to cook ,the result is clear in meals that are quite simply sumptuous. The worst part of staying at the Melvin Country House is having to leave.

Frances deserves the highest praise for her wonderful accommodation and hospitality which represents fantastic value for money. This cosy place to stay is more like a boutique hotel with lots of fluffy towels, tea/coffee making facilities, bright spacious rooms and an absolutely wonderful breakfast. The offer of a cup of coffee on arrival was just one of the lovely touches which make this such a special place to stay - we look forward to many return visits and cannot recommend Melvin Country House highly enough.
